My-Prince
May 11, 1990 to
Nov 20, 2006
by Alex Whitney ~ President of GFA
The former owner said "He is a little frightened of people." When our eyes met, it was love at first sight. As the cage door opened, he ran passed the owner, nuzzled my neck and I had to exclaim "Finally! My Prince has come and he's a cat!" And so he was named. The love affair continued for 16 years, growing deeper than I could have ever imagined.
Through GFA I work relentlessly to help rescue groups save animals lives but could not save the life of my own. I console people I meet who have experienced the loss of their animal companions yet deeply feel my own loss.
We must remember the wonderful time we had to share with our animal companions and know that they are waiting for us at Rainbow Bridge. They are not gone forever. They simply went ahead to wait and we will all be reunited one day. Good-bye for now, my sweet Prince.
She-Too
by Alex Whitney ~ President of GFA
She-Too, dear companion of My-Prince, passed away. She was a beautiful Seal Point Siamese and my constant companion after the passing of My-Prince. She was 17 years old with the sparkling blue eyes and the heart of a five year old. Early morning play was always first on the agenda that is until her body gave into to cancer.
In her final days the desire to play was no more and the sparkle left her eyes. She was ready to go to Rainbow Bridge to be reunited with My-Prince. They may be gone from this earth but never gone from my heart.
In Memory of Sam
Celia's very special guy
"He was the cat that could make anyone like cats! Every body liked Sam!" said Jill, a friend who has donated to the HERO fund so that we may save animals in peril.
I had the pleasure of caring for him from time to time. Sam was regal and king of his domain. Now he is at Rainbow Bridge playing in green grass with the sun overhead . Rest easy.
The Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who
had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who
were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember
them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are
happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone
very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and
lay together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into
the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body
quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the
green grass, his legs carrying faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together ...

In Memory of Hobbie
by Alex Whitney ~ President of GFA
To my dear friend, Mary who recently lost her 12 year old cat, named Hobbie. She was a rescue cat from a mother that was dumped and left to fend for herself and her young. Hobbie was lucky to have such wonderful human companions who loved her through good days and bad. Hobbie passed away quietly at home in the orchid room she loved so much in the arms of her owner. She is now at playing with those who have gone before her at Rainbow Bridge.
In Memory of Watson
"Watson was THE
MAN, y'know!" a quote from his human companion, Bob. Watson, nicknamed
Watsy, came into the lives of Bob and Jane April 22, 2000. He was a
rescue dog and his approximate age was three years old.
Sadly Watsy passed away on Friday July, 13th 2007. His time with his human companions was his happiest and he will greatly missed. We want to send our thoughts and prayers to the ones Watsy left behind and ask that they know that he didn't really leave. He's only a thought away. Watsy just went on ahead to Rainbow Bridge. We ask that Watsy say hello to all our animal friends.
