Our Mission

GFA is dedicated to helping rescues and sanctuaries save the lives of abandoned, abused and neglected animals.

With the help of some very compassionate people GFA has distributed over 300,000 pounds of food within the last two years.

Our deepest gratitude to our friends at PETCO, Purina (Rally To Rescue), JAKKS Pet Foods, and to all the MANY who participated to ensure rescues have the highest quality food for the animals in their care in the most difficult of economic times.

TRAVELER
THE INJURED ANIMAL HERO!

There are animal heroes both animal and human. Meet Hobo (right) and Traveler.

Living under a broken down trailer near railroad tracks in S.E. Detroit, Hobo had been hit by a car and was unable to move. Traveler (his animal hero), stayed by his side protecting his injured friend.

GFA affiliate rescue AARM (hero to the down trodden animals), rushed to their aid after receiving a call from a caring citizen.

Hobo had to face losing his leg. Both were malnourished, flea ridden, had mange and multiple injuries. AARM called GFA for help. GFA covered the surgery and medical costs.

It isn't fair that two such lovable, young dogs should be subjected to hunger, abandonment and excruciating pain.

Hobo received the surgery he desperately needed. His pal, Traveler, was treated and released after a few days recovering from his poor condition. Soon both will be available for adoption and have a chance for the happy life they so well deserve.

It is because of compassionate people like yourself that GFA can give aid when called upon. Hobo and Traveler are just two examples of the many life or death calls we receive.

Look into the eyes of the innocent animals, lace up your walking shoes and help us take steps to save these innocent creatures. Join us at the Clawson Claws & Paws Walk on May 22 and meet Hobo in person as he takes part in the Walk!

Please help today in what ever way you can. Every dollar helps save lives!

TWELVE NEWBORN PUPPIES SAVED

During a recent home drug raid, officers discovered a Mama pitbull who had just given birth to twelve puppies. Because of what this animal family had been exposed to, Mama was super aggressive. Who knows how she was treated in a drug infested environment?

Heroes for Homeless Animals, a rescue affiliate of GFA, received the call to help save these tiny babies. For safety reasons, Mama could not be placed into the foster home with her babies. As a result, these babies had to be bottle fed every 3-4 hours around the clock with formula costing $50 a can. Through the generosity of caring individuals, the puppies were able to receive all the formula they needed to grow and thrive.

Today, these beautiful puppies (dubbed the "bottle babies") are seven weeks old and almost ready to be adopted into their forever homes. They will be proudly taking part in the Claws & Paws Walk on May 22!

JUST WHEN LIFE WAS GETTING BETTER

At just 2 1/2 years old, Bruiser was hit by a car. His owner was unable to pay for the cost of the surgery and had no other choice but to ask the vet put him to sleep. Then, when all hope was thought to be lost, Bruiser meets his human guardians, Abandoned Animal Rescue of Michigan, a Guardians For Animals affiliate rescue. Stepping in to save him from certain death, Abandoned Animal Rescue of Michigan turned to GFA for financial assistance.

GFA answered the plea for help. Today, we are pleased to say that Bruiser is on the road to recovery. We have helped Bruiser and Abandoned Animal Rescue of Michigan with their $2500 vet bill. Now we ask for you to help us. Please donate today so other animals in situations like Bruiser's can be saved. Your donation is tax deductible.

GFA: Dedicated To Saving Animals Great and Small

Look into the eyes of the innocent.

Imagine a homeless animal frightened and alone on death row in a shelter.
Although he cannot read a calendar or tell time on a clock, he knows his fate.
He hears the sad cries of many abandoned animals just like him.
He cowers in the back of his cage, awaiting his tragic fate as he dreams of being in the arms of a human to love him.

You can save him and give him a chance for a bright tomorrow.

GFA supports NO KILL rescues to save doomed animals in shelters.
Take a step for abused, neglected and abandoned animals.
